GLOBAL HEALTH EDUCATION SERIES
Partners for World Health is committed to offering educational opportunities for Mainers to learn about issues in global healthcare delivery.
Once a quarter (sometimes more!), we host speakers who have spent time in other countries working to improve the quality of and/or access to healthcare. The speakers are usually medical professionals or students in a medical field who have recently returned from a PWH-sponsored medical mission or who are working on their own global health initiative. To date, we've had speakers share their experiences about working in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, Liberia, Libya, Peru, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Turkey, Uganda, and many more.
Presentations will be held at 40 Walch Drive, Portland typically on a Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00pm.
Come learn about your international neighbors, their healthcare challenges, and how Mainers are dedicating their time to
make the world a better place! Raffle prizes from around the world will be awarded to several lucky guests!
Below: Students from University of Maine and University of New England College of Medicine discuss their medical mission to Senegal, where they worked in a prison, an orphanage and with the Fish Lady Project on the beach.
