Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Sally Thompson, NP

Sally became familiar with PWH through her previous position as a nurse practitioner in the Emergency Department at Maine Medical Center, where they had a PWH collection bins stationed in their unit. “Volunteering at PWH had been on my ‘when-I-retire radar’ for a while.”

Now Sally volunteers at PWH once or twice a week, primarily as the section leader in surgical drapes. In light of the recent COVID restrictions, Sally has generously taken on additional roles: assisting with our container loads and sewing “lots and lots of masks” from home!

“A small team of professional employees orchestrates the many, many volunteers from all walks of life. They work to find a task where each person can help to contribute towards the PWH mission. However it is we, the volunteers, that make the organization go. It is not just one thing, one task; all our individual efforts add up to every one of us helping in our small way -- to make the world a better place.”

We thank you, Sally!
